As we all know, folkies are all pale face unless otherwise noted. In the past, if one was lighter skinned than Tony Orlando, they were white. These days, if a folkie is darker than, say, Alicia Keys they are Black with a capital B and it must be noted in all press statements. Rhiannon Giddens is safe even though I’m darker than her by late summer.
