Bob Dylan photos at Gerde's (Part One)
A complete unknown file was uploaded to the web with an odd title and it was full of early Bob pictures at Gerde's
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 During my routine scouring of the interwebbies for ANY pictures frrom Gerde’s Folk City, I came across a peculiar “file” labeled Mike and Helen Porco file.
I don’t know who or why ALL these photos were shared to the internet together. I don’t know who the strange other people are in the photos. SOME of the photos were taken from my OWN BLOG because I know what rare items I have published myself back in the day.
Anyway, here are a slew of photos that someone collected and posted somewhere out there. NOTE: Helen Porco was Mike’s common-law wife and my friend. Pictures of her were not included.
MOSTLY BOB DYLAN AT GERDE’S FOLK CITY

PART TWO of this mysterious FILE coming in the next post.
😎 The Mayor of MacDougal Street, Dave Van Ronk, had a few words to share about how THE FIRST HONEST TO GOD FOLK CABARET was formed.
🏆🏆Exactly 65 years ago!!
HERE IS A MINUTE OF THE GERDE'S FOLK CITY DOC featuring a page out of Van Ronk's book. (Narrated by touring mate David Massengill)
Many people do not know that GERDE'S FOLK CITY began in January 1960 and operated for 5 months known as THE FIFTH PEG. Israel G. Young approached my grandfather Mike with the idea.
🤌🏼🤌🏼 The legend is clear and well known. Izzy Young was the first to book acts at Gerde's for Mike Porco. Within 5 months, Izzy was out but not without providing the Village with Blues legends Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry for 5 of the last six weeks under Young.
